West Bengal’s Most Haunted Phenomena: The Aleya Ghost Lights
A paranormal phenomenon is a centre of fascination to many of us. If you are one of such people, you are going to love the story of Aleya ghost lights in West Bengal. They can be witnessed in bog lands, swamps, and marshes in West Bengal. It is believed that if you approach these flickering colourful lights, they drown you to the depth of swamps. When people follow these lights, they either die or mysteriously drown.
In some cases, those who come back alive from there, they look spooked and transfixed. Moreover, those who see them for the first time, get frightened for the rest of their lives. The reason is the aura of these lights is so negative that they have an impact on our bodies. The local legend has it that Aleya ghost lights are the spirits of the dead fishermen who of course died in those swamps. This is considered one of India and West Bengal’s most haunted places.
Do we have a scientific explanation for this phenomenon?
The existence of Aleya lights is not part of India alone, as they are the residents of many other countries as well. Moreover, their existence is so solid that scientists could not help digging into it. Alessandro Volta who was an Italian scientist in 1776, reported that these ghost lights only appear in marshy and wet areas.
The ionisation of methane gas in the atmosphere causes these lights. Then in 1832, another scientist named Major Louis reported that these lights are nothing more than the burning of gas. The phenomenon is considered to be created by the oxidation of phosphine and diphosphine, and methane. The chemicals which are the result of organic degradation cause photon emissions.
Since phosphine and diphosphate mix automatically and burn upon coming into touch with oxygen in the air, it takes only a small amount of it to ignite the plentiful and much more methane. Phosphine furthermore produces phosphorus pentoxide as a by-product. To form phosphoric acid, it reacts with water vapour.
Are there other legends apart from Indian legends?
This phenomenon takes place in many parts of the world including India. Countries like America, Latvia, Australia, Finland, Britain etc. have found reports of missing and dead people’s cases.
According to the legend of these counties, these ghostly lights are the ancient spirits who are protecting the hidden treasure. In simple words, they are the protectors of valuable hidden treasure. Well, what are your inner instincts speaking on it?
