Josh Is What You Need: An Inspiring Story Of Supriya Paul
Coming up with an idea, taking it towards the success stair and becoming an entrepreneur isn’t easy. Especially, when there are hardly those around you who believe in you and your idea. Josh Talks which made a revenue of $4 million today, was taken as an NGO upon being put out initially. It literally took Supriya Paul a whole year to convince her parents about her start-up.
Her parents were not in favour as they believed that it wasn’t a money-making venture. After getting her parents to her side, she had to face other hurdles as well such as not many takers being there for the business idea and the model. She furthermore had to struggle to explain the revenue rate to the venture capitalists as they couldn’t figure out the investment potential.
How does Josh Talks serve the Indian Youth?
Finally, when everything was settled and ready to go, the first day of Josh Talks was arranged in a living room. Around a group of 10 people watched a video and a discussion took place for their takeaways. It wasn’t yet official Josh Talk though. 2015 was the year when Supriya Paul and Shobhita Banga co-founded it.

The vision Supriya and Shobhita had in their minds were to provide a platform to showcase inspirational stories that would encourage the youth to do more and bigger in their lives. The platform had a mission to unlock the potential and has become an ecosystem of tools and products for young people, especially those belonging to Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns and cities.
Why was Josh Talks established in the first place?
Most importantly, Supriya always felt that in India, youngsters face a lack of inspiration and professional help in finding the right jobs or making the careers they should go for. Also, she was unhappy to see that Indians have such a high potential but no relatable role models to look up to.
Fortunately, she managed to build an empire in the form of a platform which shares stories to inspire us to do more with our lives. Moreover, it also works for the upliftment of the neglected section of society which is done by building a solid business that solves real-life problems. Being a lover of storytelling, Supriya believes that it is a great way to change one’s life just through listening.
How’s it working?
Well, Josh Talks is presenting relatable role models to the rural youth through an ed-tech platform to impart the right skills required to succeed in life. Did you know the platform even launched an English Learning app? It has over 1.2 million downloads and 110,000 people have enrolled themselves in the courses the app is providing.
These courses include English speaking, personality development, public speaking and computer skills, and many others in 10 different languages. The YouTube channel moreover has more than 9 million subscribers.

All in all, Supriya succeeded in making her vision come true and birthing what she imagined for the Indian youth. She believes that you should channel your potential into where you and your community can collectively thrive. She furthermore stated that collaborating and connecting with people is crucial. Above all, not with the people who have similarities with you but with those as well who are different from you.
