Why Is It Important To Take Care Of One’s Mental Health?
We are all very concerned about our physical health. Something happens, regardless of small problem or serious, we get worried and visit hospitals. Our loved ones wish us good health and every known person tells us to get well soon. However, how often have you seen such care for mental health?
I suppose not only we as subjects but our loved ones also don’t seem to be bothered much by mental health care. It is as if it doesn’t even exist. How often do they ask you about your mental health care well-being? Are there bits of advice for mental health similar to physical health directed at you? I guess, not! Mental health is an essential part of our being as physical health.
Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, are all part of mental health. How we think, feel, and act is affected by it. Moreover, it is also responsible for determining how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Most importantly, mental health is important at every stage of our lives from childhood through adulthood.

What are the factors responsible for poor mental health?
The following mentioned factors may affect mental well-being and could increase the risk of developing psychological disorders.
Childhood Abuse
A child who sadly goes through physical assault, sexual violence, emotional abuse, or neglect while growing up, ends up having severe mental and emotional distress. Abuse mostly develops mental disorders like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, or personality disorders in such children.
Mental health challenges often lead to medical complications. Thus, those who go through such dealings can develop diabetes, stroke, and other forms of heart disease.
Biology
Your biological makeup can have a great impact on your mental health. Some mental health disorders such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia run in families and can be passed on to generations.
Environment
The environment of course is the next important contributor to one’s mental well-being. Bad environmental circumstances can trigger negative effects on psychological wellness. Moreover, weather conditions, natural disasters, pollution etc. are eligible for adverse mental health.
For example, the weather is found responsible for increasing suicide cases. Whereas natural disasters contribute to developing PTSD. On the other hand, pollution can produce negative effects on depression symptoms. Similarly, a positive social environment can protect against it and lead to healthy mental outcomes.
Lifestyle
Lifestyle also plays an essential part in one’s mental health. For example, a good diet and living style keeps it intact. Whereas, poor diet, alcohol, smoking, etc. may lead to psychological harm. Moreover, these toxic habits have a link to depression as well.

Why is it important to be aware of mental health?

Well, the answer is not that complicated. By being aware and spreading awareness, we can work to de-stigmatize the way we think about it, approach it, and identify mental health issues around us in our society. The solution can be found only by having deep conversations and admitting the problem.
We, as individuals, can abolish the shame and fear that are linked to mental health topics. This, as a result, can increase the chances of someone reaching out in a time of need. With more awareness around, more signs and symptoms of certain conditions can be made known.
Above all, the early treatment also depicts how the treatment can be successful for many conditions. Also, the earlier the diagnosis and treatment take place, the more likely it is that the individual can manage the condition and improve his/her mental health.
