Story Of Jagjyot Kaur Who Has Been Reviving The Indian Handmade Product Market
Jagjyot Kaur was working as an HR professional in a company until one day after 12 years she made an international trip. This trip to Bali changed her life. To sum up, she now turned to entrepreneurship after a years-long job. Let’s get into the article and know how it happened and where she landed as an entrepreneur.
The trip to Bali
Jagjyot Kaur was happy and contended with her career. One day she took a trip to Bali which was indeed the turning point of her life. There, a substantial handmade product market attained her attention. She was astonished to see the quality and aesthetically pleasing products.
However, she was also disturbed to see that Indian handmade products didn’t share the same popularity and love that their foreign counterparts did. She came home back from Bali but couldn’t set her mind at ease. So she decided to put herself into some research and stuck with generational art form block printing.
The next step
After finding her interest in block printing, Jagjyot Kaur started spending time with artisans and learning the nuances of art. Most importantly, she invested her time and efforts in finding out how to change the picture of this art form to turn it into relevance in the modern days. She furthermore studied the market need. Finally, it was time to design the products.
Jagjyot Kaur thus designed the products by blending archival prints with modern prints in subtle hues and calming palettes. These designs then led to the birth of her brand Raamae.
How does she feel to be an entrepreneur?
Jagjyot Kaur in an interview mentioned that it is not a piece of cake to be an entrepreneur. It takes a lot. For example, she has to constantly make decisions, apply different perspectives, and analyse and evaluate current data to find the best solution to problems that her brand is facing.
Moreover, it takes 26 days to finish a new Raamae Artisan Quilt. Furthermore, it takes an extensive experience of 12 artisans to finish it. However, the end result makes her feel wonderful to see how each artisan and process together contribute to the beautiful creation.
By recalling her initial days of entrepreneurship, she mentioned how she had to make constant efforts to be on top of everything such as from designing, manufacturing, branding, marketing, hiring, and logistics, to customer experience. However, today her products receiving global acceptance are worth every hard work for her.
