How Did Smartphones Change our Lives?
With the advancing technology, our lifestyles have also been witnessing great changes. Today, smartphones have become our companions which support our modern way of living and necessities. We are living in an era of convenience because of smartphones. So much so that convenience has become an integral part of life. Initially, phones were used for making and receiving calls, messages, and emails. However, within the past 10 years, there has been an enormous evolution in this technology.
Our lives today entirely depend upon smartphones. It definitely stands as a host of communication, search, and important moments in the form of photos and videos. But, there is more to the picture. For example, mobile banking has absolutely shrunk our exhaustion of waiting in line to finish banking errands. Moreover, online shopping is another universe of convenience and fun. You can buy anything online from the comfort of your home.
Wait, did you forget ‘entertainment?’ Smartphones is a world full of things that can keep you entertained for the number of hours you want. From games to movies, you have everything you wish in a single piece of gadget. There is another end to several things smartphones can perform for us such as navigation, smart home control, an assistant for travel and vacation, and of course a medium of communication.
Moreover, medical apps have helped us to connect with healthcare providers with utmost ease. By acquiring health and lifestyle apps, these smartphones can help us in improving self-care practices. Lastly, we have gained instant access to unlimited knowledge and information which was not probably possible otherwise.
What does a single individual have to say about the experience of living life with a smartphone?
While I cannot deny the convenience and comforts I have been enjoying through my smartphone, I cannot ignore its pitfalls either. I feel that this technology has sunk me deep into a dark hole far from the living world. Although I have learnt of many cultures, people, and different thought processes of people around the world, all by carrying this phone in my hand. But, at the same time, I can’t help thinking about how much time of my life it has been consuming.
The time we used to value earlier before smartphones were there, is now spent in great amounts unknowingly. The time you and I would have used in cherishing our loved ones’ company and observing the surroundings is now lost in the phones. Before I came across the first phone in my life, I loved reading books and spending my time in libraries. Today, I still have the same urge but it is just that knowingly and unknowingly most of my time is spent on my phone. What is your experience with a smartphone?
