Abhinav Yadav And His Journey From An Instagram Page To a Physical Store
This story is not different from other success stories. It is yet short and crisp and the journey itself is not very long. However, this story suggests that if you have the determination to put your time and calibre into anything smaller or large, anything at all, you will unfold the results unknown. It is truly said that invested time, passion, and work into something will never go empty.
Today’s story is similar to this saying. It might not seem like a big accomplishment, but if you sit back relax and read it with the depth of your reasoning, it will leave an imprint of inspiration behind in your heart. The story begins with a Varanasi boy Abhinav Yadav.
Birth of Create Your Taste
Yadav was planning to move to Europe for his Master’s degree in 2020. Unfortunately, 2020 was the difficult and most hapless period in human history when the pandemic hit. Because of the lockdown and travel restrictions, Yadav had sadly no other option but to stay back at his home only. Instead of being disheartened and lazy, he kept himself engaged with certain activities.
One such activity was to create an Instagram page which he named ‘Create Your Taste’. Through this page, he began sharing home decor ideas, gardening videos, and DIY tips. Shortly after he realised that he was enjoying posting and doing the activities he was doing because of his Instagram page. Hence, he put extra effort into sharing his posts and added creativity to whatever he shared.
Moreover, people also started loving his content and within a short period of a month, Yadav earned a fan following of 10,000 people. He was always into plants so his content related to them also went quite popular. To sum up, his passion for plants was the first reason to start the Instagram page.
Joining the local women artisans
As the fan following went on growing, Yadav had a responsibility along with a passion to post good content for the people. Hence, he started collaborating with local women artisans during festive seasons. He would shoot videos of making hoops and macrame. And mandalas and share online through his page. The female artisans would also make bamboo baskets, cane planters, and jute mats, among many other such items.
Soon after these videos, Yadav started receiving orders from his followers. There couldn’t be anything better than selling the demanded products through his page. Above all, he began to receive orders during the off-season as well. Many of his followers even requested him to open a physical store for selling the products.
Of course, he had to consider his follower’s constant requests and for doing so he borrowed Rs 5 lacs from his parents. Thus, he finally opened a physical store in Varanasi. However, it wasn’t that easy for him because the village women artisans’ families were the real hurdle in his way. The problem was that their families did not want their women to be working and get into the field with Yadav.
Setting up a physical store
But finally, he was successful in winning them to his side and has been able to help 50 artisans today earn a decent income. He has helped them utilise their skills by earning money. At present, Create Your Taste has become a brand and the products are sold under this name on Amazon, Flipkart, Instagram, and Meesho.
Also, if you are wondering about the women artisans’ earnings, well they have been receiving revenue of Rs 2 lacks per month. Yadav is not done yet as he wishes to expand his customer base and product inventory. The venture started by selling out just bamboo-based products and is selling terracotta to jute and recycled cloth-based products to whatnot!
Abhinav Yadav not only changed his life by using his time and efforts in the right direction but has also brought the local artisans into the limelight. Moreover, he has helped them earn income through their skills which were probably not known to them before.
