I am sure you must have heard of papers made up of elephant dung. But, had you heard about papers made out of cow dung before? I bet not! Well, this is a story of a man named Bhim Raj Sharma. And, can you guess how much he is able to earn through these unique papers? Well, Bhim Raj Sharma earns crores through this venture of him.
Today, when he has achieved success and his venture is doing well, the idea of papers making from cow dung doesn’t seem ridiculous. However, in the initial days before Raj Sharma had made his set-up and this venture was just an idea, everybody made fun of him. Nobody liked his idea and everybody from his friends and family called him mad. Nobody he knew supported him in this idea.
Moreover, he was even denied from lending money to start his venture from his relatives because they found his idea stupid. Today the story is different and Raj Sharma has come a long way where he is respected and admired by his same friends and relatives.
Getting back to the time when it was all about to happen, Raj Sharma heard about the elephant’s dung being used for making papers. It was in 2014 when he heard about it and the idea really fascinated him. While wrestling with the idea, another idea bust him and he thought if it was possible to use cow dung to make papers. And the rest of the story we are already familiar with is that nobody liked his idea when he shared it with his friends and family.
Now when he was denied lending him the money to start his business, he had no option but to consider taking up the money he had saved for his daughter’s marriage. It was clearly a huge risk. However, Raj Sharma was very determined and passionate to give his idea a go. Having faith and confidence in himself, he moved forward with the idea and invested the money.
The unit was set up for the making of the papers of cow dung. The set-up took place in 2017 and it cost him Rs 30 lacs investment. Raj Sharma named his venture Gaukriti. Just like any other fresh startup, Sharma also faced some troubles. He had to do a lot of experimentation to reach the perfectly shaped papers as his initial papers were uneven and crumbly.
It took him about 6 months of experimentation to achieve the perfect shape with the finest quality. These papers are not only made up of cow dung but cow urine and cotton waste are also used. At present, Raj Sharma has reached selling more than 3,000 paper sheets per day along with bringing a new phase in the paper industry. His venture is earning up to Rs 1 crore a year with clients from Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
