Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about influential female politicians who are making this world a better place. In the 21st century, there is absolutely no shere in which women have not proved their potential. Jacinda Ardern
There could be no one better to start this list with than Jacinda Ardern. She is the youngest prime minister of New Zealand in the last 150 years. At a young age of 17 years, she joined the Labour Party. Before becoming an MP, she traveled to countries like Britain, China, India, Jordan, Israel, Algeria etc and gained overseas experience. She also worked in the cabinet office of the British Prime Minister for about 2 and a half years.
It was in 2008 that she was chosen as a candidate for MP from the Waikato district. She was 28 when she entered the House of Representatives and became the youngest person to do so. In 2011 and 2014 she ran for the Auckland Central Seat but unfortunately lost by minimal margins. As her charisma and popularity increased, in 2018 she became the Prime Minister. She swept the country, became a feminist icon and a mentor for many.
She has proved her capabilities through various reforms. Even during the pandemic New Zealand was able to manage and minimise the damage because of its able leader. Till date, Jacinda Ardern has proved to be one of the most significant, efficient and powerful leaders of New Zealand ever.
Tsai Ing-wen
Tsai Ing-wen is an educator and a politician. She has degrees from National Taiwan University, University of London and London school of Economics and Political science. She is the first President of Taiwan (Republic of China). She actively became involved in politics during the early 90s. Her remarkable services helped Taiwan achieve great heights. She joined the DPP party and has helped strengthen it from time to time. She was nominated as a candidate for 2016 elections and won to be the first woman President of the country.
Tsai Ing-wen has made sincere efforts towards the growth of Taiwan’s economy, maintaining cordial relations with the neighbours and bringing equilibrium to the China-Taiwan issue. She has been an activist for the rights of tribal and indigenous people, people from LGBTQ+ community, underprivileged section of the society etc.
Kamala Harris
Kamala Harris broke many records when she was sworn in as the Vice President of the United States of America. She is the first Black Asian American woman to hold a high rank office in the USA. She is a member of the Democratic Party and has served as attorney general of California and San Francisco. As a senator she did outstanding work in the healthcare sector, immigration regulations and de-scheduling of cannabis etc. In 2021 she became the Vice President with Joe Biden as the President of the USA.
She has been vocal about sensitive issues like the rights of women at the workplace, mental health crisis, poverty, child poverty etc. She also actively works with other members for development of infrastructure, diplomatic relations and carries out administrative functions with Mr Biden. She is an epitome of struggle, perseverance and feminism in true sense.
Merav Michaeli
Merav Michaeli is a female activist, politician, journalist from Israel. In her youth, she worked as a leader of Israeli scouts. She is also a radio broadcaster and has served in the Army Radio as well. Currently, she is the leader of Israeli Labour Party. She also holds the office as Minister of Transport and road safety in Israel. She joined the Labour Party in 2012 and was elected to be its leader in 2021. Since then, she has proved to be an efficient and important member of the party. Her influence, charisma and popularity is increasing day by day.
Katalin Novak
Katalin Novak is the first female President of Hungary. She is also the youngest person in the history of Hungary to hold the presidency. Before starting her journey as the President, she has held various important offices of the country such as Minister of Human Resources, Foreign Minister, Vice President of Fidesz etc. She won the Presidential elections on March 10, 2022. She has been a volatile and active member of the European Union. She has just begun her journey and a lot of challenges and opportunities still lie ahead of her. Her strategies and reforms would indeed be of great significance and we can only wait to see her grow to more power.
