What Happened?
A CRPF vehicle carrying jawans from the 187th Battalion met with a tragic accident as it skidded off the road and fell into a nallah (gorge) in the remote hilly area of Kandva–Basantgarh in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred while the personnel were returning from an operation in Basantgarh.
Casualties
- Three CRPF personnel died on the spot due to the impact.
- Between 8 to 15 jawans sustained injuries, with varying reports on the exact count. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Rescue Efforts
Local villagers, administration, and other CRPF teams responded quickly. Rescue operations were launched immediately, and the injured were evacuated under challenging terrain conditions.

- Union Minister Jitendra Singh called the incident “deeply disturbing” and confirmed that Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai is overseeing the situation on-ground of Udhampur.
- J&K LG Manoj Sinha expressed condolences and assured the best possible treatment for the injured.
