Bhangarh Fort at night: spot for spirits
Known to be the most haunted place in India Bhangarh Fort is located near town Alwar, Rajasthan. Due to the famous spooky tales of this fort, this place attracts a lot of excursionists. As the experts say, the Bhangarh Fort is apparently the most haunted areas in India or maybe in Asia in this matter. Due to the ghostly incidents reported to be happened inside, the authorities have prohibited any entry post sunset. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have informed about the various paranormal activities occurred inside the fort and it has a very negative vibe to it.
Story of the haunted fort
Once being a magnificent fort where the great kings of Rajasthan lived and now having the ruined remains, the Bhangarh Fort is said to have two legends which claim to send cold shivers down any visitor’s spine.
The first one says that the Madho King of Rajasthan decided to make the fort his name only on a condition. Madho Singh was only permitted to stay there until the fort’s shadow didn’t fall upon the severe- Bala Nath’s home.
But as it turns out, the greedy successors of Madho Singh ended up expanding the fort vertically which let the shadow fall upon the ascetic’s home. Believed that the inevitable happened and since then the fort become cursed or haunted.
Now the second tale which is believed to be the reason behind the fort being haunted. The Princess of Bhangarh known as Princess Ratnavatiwas famous for her charm. Legends states that a black magician of the town adored the princess. He bewitched a cosmetic and gifted it to her so that she falls in love with him.
But the princess was aware of his intentions so she poured the cosmetic onto a stone boulder to check for any black magic, but the supposed boulder ended up crushing the magician because of the black magic done by him. But before his death, he established a curse on the Bhangarh Fort and thus it is believed that no soul has been able to live peacefully since then.
No Visit after sunset!
The fort is completely open during day hours but it is strictly prohibited to venture or stay inside the Bhangarh fort at night. As a matter of fact,the ASI abbreviated as Archaeological Survey of India has even placed danger boards at several spots in the fort to threat visitors against staying in the premises after the sunset and before the dawn.
As per the locals, anybody who managed to stay inside the fort at night, they are believed to never returned to tell their story.It is believed that ghosts roam there at night, thus claims this place surrounded with paranormal activities.
Bhangarh Fort, an example of remarkable architecture
If we keep aside those ghost-ridden stories of Bhangarh Fort, this fort is an architectural marvel. The ruins of the fort have minutely carved out many small waterfalls and ancient temples in the way, which provides this location a distinctive serenity. Also, the location is not far away from lush green landscape of the Sariska Tiger Reserve.
It is a great place to visit if you’re planning for an excursion trip to Rajasthan, but the locals tend to keep away from the fort. Many locals have claimed that either since the roof of any house that has been built near in the past has been disintegrated shortly after building it.
